Carl Gifford

Carl Gifford has over 30 years of work experience in various software development roles. Carl started their career at Teradyne in 1979 as an Engineering Staff, where they designed and implemented software modules for testing integrated circuits. Carl then worked as a Consultant at Sterimatics Corp before becoming an Engineering Manager at CNR Inc in 1984. In this role, they oversaw software development and implemented object-oriented design concepts.

In 1995, Carl joined Foxboro Corp as a Consultant, where they coordinated consulting staff and integrated software components for testing. Carl later worked as a Software Manager at BBN Systems & Technologies before joining ADE Corporation. At ADE Corporation, they served as a Software Development Leader, directing the development of a next-generation controller and updating protocols for measurement information.

Carl also worked at Foxboro Corp as a Consultant, developing a subsystem for a process control system. Carl then worked as a Consultant at Evergreen Enhancements, Inc., developing file transfer protocols between PC applications and embedded microprocessors.

In 2000, Carl joined Draeger Medical Systems as a Contractor, providing technical leadership and software engineering expertise for creating a subsystem in a medical device. Carl designed and implemented object classes and information databases using XML.

Currently, Carl is working at QinetiQ North America as a Senior Principal Software Engineer, where they are involved in developing automated testing of production sub-assemblies and embedded microprocessor systems using C, C++, and Linux.

Carl Gifford earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology/Biochemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1967 to 1972. Carl later pursued a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from UMass Boston, attending from 1992 to 1996.
