Amir Kianinejad

Amir Kianinejad has extensive experience in the oil and gas industry, with a focus on reservoir engineering and data science. Amir began their career as a Reservoir Engineer at NIOC - IOR Research Institute in 2010 before taking on an internship at the Bureau of Economic Geology in 2014. In 2015, they worked as an Innovation Intern at Quantum Reservoir Impact (QRI). From 2016 to 2016, Amir worked as a Reservoir Engineer at the Texas Oil and Gas Institute. Amir then joined The University of Texas at Austin as a Graduate Research Assistant from 2011 to 2016.

In 2017, Amir returned to Quantum Reservoir Impact (QRI) and took on various roles, including Reservoir Engineer/Data Scientist and Team Leader and Product Owner for the SpeedWise® project. Currently, they serve as the Vice President of Technology Operations at QRI, a position they have held since June 2022. Throughout their career, Amir has gained expertise in applying advanced machine learning and AI techniques for optimizing well placement and completion design, as well as utilizing analytical and numerical methods to improve oil production in diverse conditions. Amir has also developed AI-powered workflows for identifying drilling opportunities and resolving water production issues.

Amir Kianinejad completed their education in petroleum engineering with a chronological sequence of degrees. Amir began their academic journey at the Petroleum University of Technology, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Petroleum Engineering from 2004 to 2008. After that, they pursued advanced studies at the Sharif University of Technology, earning a Master of Science (MS) degree in Petroleum Engineering from 2008 to 2011. Lastly, they attended The University of Texas at Austin from 2011 to 2016 to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Petroleum Engineering.
