Christopher Laing

Christopher Laing has a diverse work experience in the field of data science and technology. Christopher currently holds a position as an Adjunct Senior Fellow at the University of Canterbury starting in 2023. Previously, they were the Chief Technology Officer and Director of AI and Data Science at Qrious Limited from 2020 to 2022. Christopher also served as the Qrious CTO at Spark New Zealand starting in 2022. Christopher has been involved in various industry and professional organizations, such as being a Board Member at NZTech from 2021 to 2022 and an Executive Council Member at AI Forum NZ from 2019 to 2022. Prior to these roles, they held positions at Xero, Aspiring Research, Allianz, and Blue Yonder GmbH, where they worked as a Head of Xero AI, Data Science Lead, Director, Global Lead Data Scientist, Senior Data Scientist, and Data Scientist. Christopher'swork experience spans from 2014 to present.

Christopher Laing completed their education with a PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of Otago in 2014. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics from the same university between 2004 and 2009. Christopher'seducation journey began with an International Baccalaureate Diploma from John McGlashan College, which they completed from 1997 to 2003.
