Mark Webber is a Group Leader and Research Leader at Quadram Institute since April 2017 and has also held the position of Research Leader at the Institute of Food Research since December 2016. At the University of Birmingham, Mark Webber has been a Senior Research Fellow since October 2001, leading a research group focused on bacterial responses to antimicrobial stress, biofilm formation, and gene transfer. Mark Webber was awarded a BBSRC David Phillips Fellowship, exploring mechanisms of resistance to the biocide triclosan. Completing two postdoctoral projects prior to gaining an independent fellowship, Mark Webber's research examined antibiotic resistance phenotypes in Staphylococcus aureus and the selection of antibiotic resistance in Gram-negative bacteria by biocides. Mark Webber holds a PhD in antibiotic resistance and an MSc in Medical Microbiology and Infectious Disease, both from the University of Birmingham.
