Karen Twietmeyer

Karen Twietmeyer has extensive experience in the field of optical engineering. Karen has worked as a Principal Optical Engineer at Quadratic 3D, Inc. since 2019. Prior to that, they held the role of Principal Optical Systems Engineer at Optikos Corporation from 2016 to 2019.

Before joining Optikos Corporation, Karen worked at QD Vision, Inc. from 2011 to 2016 as a Principal Optical Engineer. At QD Vision, they focused on optical design and metrology for quantum dot solutions in the consumer electronics industry. Karen also served as the team leader for the Instrumentation Group and played a major role in the development of production optical metrology systems.

From 2008 to 2009, Karen worked as a Product Development Specialist at 3M. Their responsibilities included leading projects related to LED-source thin air cavity backlights and overseeing an accelerated weathering program for backlight materials.

During their time at the University of Arizona from 2002 to 2007, Karen worked as a Research Assistant at the Optical Sciences Center. Their dissertation focused on developing and utilizing a scanning laser ophthalmoscope with full polarimeter for the early detection of retinal abnormalities and disease.

Karen's career also includes positions at MediSpectra as a Senior Optical Engineer, where they designed and documented the optical engine for a medical instrument used in the diagnosis of pre-cancerous lesions of the cervix, and at CiMatrix as an Optical Engineer.

Karen began their career at EMC as a Test Engineer and later worked at LTX Corporation as an Applications Engineer.

Karen Twietmeyer holds a PhD in Optics from the University of Arizona, which they obtained from 2002 to 2007. Prior to that, they completed their MSEE in Electro Optics at Tufts University from 1991 to 1995. Earlier in their education, they earned a BSEE in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology between 1983 and 1988. Additionally, they also hold a Master's degree in Electro-optics from Tufts University, the start and end years of which were not provided.
