Richard Newhagen

Head of Finance at Qualio

Richard Newhagen is the current Head of Finance at Qualio. Richard has over 8 years of experience as a finance director, with their most recent position being at Neo4j from June 2012 to September 2020. At Neo4j, Richard was responsible for leading change management and process improvement to scale Neo4j’s business from start-up to IPO’able enterprise. Richard also oversaw the ERP implementation for multi-entity, multi-currency high-growth series E venture.

Prior to Neo4j, Richard was the Finance Director at Blurb, Inc. from June 2008 to June 2012. Richard was the first finance executive for the startup, which quickly grew to become a global leader in online self-publishing. Richard was responsible for bringing Blurb through its first financial audits and establishing all key accounting policies and processes. Richard also built a team to support on-going accounting, financial reporting and tax. In addition, Richard led budgeting, forecasting and cost control.

During their time at Blurb, Richard also established international subs and consolidation. Richard worked closely with e-commerce team to control, report and analyze high volume credit card transactions (>1.0M/month). Lastly, they managed the Cap Table, 409A, stock plans and stock-based comp expense, and implemented CapMx.

Richard Newhagen has a background in finance and accounting, holding a BS from Arizona State University and a certification from Duolingo in Danish Fluency: Elementary. Richard is currently enrolled in the finance concentration portion of an EMBA at Copenhagen Business School.
