Mark Campanelli

Sr. Software Engineer at Quantum Computing Inc.

Mark Campanelli has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning various roles and industries. Mark started their career as an Adjunct Faculty of Mathematics at Minneapolis Community and Technical College in 2005. Mark then served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Montana State University from 2006 to 2009, teaching undergraduate mathematics courses. Following that, they worked as an Assistant Professor (Fixed Term) at Southwest Minnesota State University from 2009 to 2010, where they taught and managed undergraduate mathematics courses.

In 2010, Mark transitioned to the field of research and development, joining the National Institute of Standards and Technology as a Postdoc in Sustainable Manufacturing. Mark was responsible for developing the technical basis for uncertainty quantification in modeling, measurement, and simulation. Mark also contributed to computational algorithm, software, and information system development for sustainable manufacturing.

Mark further expanded their research expertise at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, where they served as a Postdoc in PV Performance Measurement from 2012 to 2015. Mark'swork involved quantifying and reducing measurement uncertainty in photovoltaic module testing. Mark developed and implemented measurement uncertainty analysis techniques and recommended hardware and process improvements to enhance measurement accuracy.

In 2015, Mark joined Workiva as a Senior Quality Assurance Analyst. Mark was responsible for implementing software performance monitoring and managing real-time server and client quality monitoring systems for a cloud-based business-reporting software company.

From 2018 to 2021, Mark worked as a Software Engineer at Resonon, where they developed Python-based software for controlling hyperspectral imaging systems. Mark also contributed to machine learning/vision algorithm development for industrial classification, sorting, and quality control.

In 2021, Mark joined SunPower Corporation as a Senior Software Engineer, specializing in solar energy simulation and analytics. Mark developed cloud-based services for computation and data workflows, focusing on solar photovoltaic system energy performance simulation, system component and site database management, and computational efficiency improvements.

Currently, Mark is working as a Senior Software Engineer at Quantum Computing, Inc. since 2022, where they are involved in developing software solutions in the field of quantum computing.

In addition to their professional work, Mark is also the owner and principal engineer at Intelligent Measurement Systems LLC since 2015. Mark develops cloud-based computational micro-services for photovoltaic model fitting, aiming to improve performance prediction accuracy for the adoption of solar energy as a low-carbon source.

Overall, Mark Campanelli has gained significant expertise in software engineering, data analytics, sustainable manufacturing, and mathematics education throughout their career.

Mark Campanelli received a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Geology from the University of Rochester from 1992 to 1997. Mark then pursued a Master of Science (MS) in Secondary Mathematics Education at the University of Rochester from 1998 to 2001. Following this, they attended Montana State University-Bozeman and obtained a Master of Science (MS) in Mathematics from 2001 to 2005. Mark further pursued higher education and received a Certificate in Cosmetology from Aveda in 2005 to 2006. Finally, they completed their academic journey by earning a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mathematics from Montana State University-Bozeman from 2006 to 2009.
