Pieter de Witte

Director Research Programmes & IP at Quantum Delta

Pieter de Witte has a diverse work experience spanning various research and innovation roles in the academic and public sectors. Pieter is currently the Director of Research Programmes & IP at Quantum Delta NL, starting in March 2022. Prior to this, they worked at NWO (Nederlandse Organisatie voor Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek) as the Head of the Department of Earth Sciences and Astronomy from August 2021 to February 2022, and as the Head of the Department of Strategic Partnerships from April 2017 to August 2021.

Pieter also served as the "'Knowledge' Secretary top team HTSM" at the Topsector High Tech Systems and Materials from October 2015 to February 2020, where they were responsible for supporting the top team in the field of high tech systems and materials.

Before that, they held the position of Head of Research and Industry at FOM Physics Foundation from October 2014 to March 2017. In this role, they were responsible for valorization activities within FOM and for public-private and strategic research partnerships (PPS) in physics and related areas.

Pieter also worked as the Deputy Director at the Top consortium for knowledge and innovation High Tech Systems and Materials from September 2012 to September 2014, where they managed the TKI HTSM office and executed the TKI and MIT subsidy programs.

Prior to that, they were a Programme Coordinator in the Industrial Partnership Programme at FOM Physics Foundation from June 2008 to August 2012, focusing on developing public-private partnerships in physics and increasing interactions between academia and industry.

Pieter's earlier experience includes roles as a Program Officer in NanoNed at Technology Foundation STW from September 2004 to June 2008, where they facilitated knowledge transfer and valorization of nanotech research results, and as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Institut de Science et d'Ingénierie Supramoléculaires, Université Louis Pasteur from September 2003 to September 2004.

Pieter started their career as a PhD Student at Radboud University Nijmegen, where they conducted research on helical chromophoric nanowires from 1999 to 2003, focusing on potential applications in photovoltaics, electrooptic devices, and molecular electronics.

Pieter de Witte began their education in 1987 at Geert Groote College, where they completed their VWO degree in 1993. Subsequently, from 1993 to 1999, they pursued higher education at Radboud University, earning a Drs. (Dutch MSc equivalent) degree in Chemistry.
