Pieter Vermaas has extensive work experience in various roles and organizations. Pieter began their career in 1998 as an Associate Professor at TU Delft. In 2009, they became the Editor In Chief at Springer Nature Group. In 2018, they served as the Executive Director at Delft Design for Values Institute until 2020. From 2019 to 2021, they were the President of the Society for Philosophy and Technology. Since 2019, they have been involved in research and development at Quantum Delta NL. In 2021, they worked as a Researcher at TechEthosEU. Pieter is currently part of the Centre for Quantum and Society as a Scientific Researcher and will join OpenSuperQPlus in 2023 for the role of Scientific Researcher.
Pieter Vermaas has a strong educational background in the field of physics and philosophy. Pieter started their education at Montessori Lyceum Amsterdam, where they completed their VWO degree between 1976 and 1983. Pieter then pursued a Master of Science degree in Theoretical Physics from the University of Amsterdam, attending from 1986 to 1992. Later, Pieter obtained their Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Philosophy of Physics from Utrecht University, where they studied from 1993 to 1998.
