Sean Burns

Sean Burns has a diverse work experience in the technology industry. Sean is currently serving as the Director of Wafer Fab Operations and Planning at Quantum-Si since March 2022. Prior to that, they worked at IBM for almost two decades in various roles. From May 2019 to March 2022, Sean was the Senior Manager of IBM Research Testsite and OPC enablement. Sean also held the position of Manager, Design Technology Innovation and 10nm Patterning Technology Lead during the same period. Sean joined IBM as a Research Staff Member in May 2003 and held several other positions, including 14nm Gate Module Lead, 22/20 Gate Patterning Team Lead, and 32/22 BEOL lithography engineer. Sean began their career at IBM as Trilayer Materials Development - Lead engineer on vendor JDA from May 2003 to January 2007.

Sean Burns obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Chemical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, which they attended from 1994 to 1998. Following this, they pursued a higher level of education and earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, where they studied from 1998 to 2003.
