Shalu Mittal

Shalu Mittal's work experience includes a role as a Senior Quality Control Analyst at Quantum-Si since 2022. Prior to this, Mittal had volunteered as a Science Olympiad Coach at Carlsbad Unified School District since 2013, coaching multiple subjects for middle and high school teams. Mittal also served as the VP of Membership for the Sage Creek PTSA at Sage Creek High School starting in 2021. As a volunteer, Mittal was a First Lego League (FLL) Coach at Aviara Oaks Middle School from 2017 to 2020, guiding students in exploring themes and identifying related problems for competitions. Mittal joined Aviara Oaks Elementary School as a volunteer from 2009 to 2013, organizing extracurricular activities to promote STEAM education, including a reading fluency program. Prior to working in education, Mittal held research positions as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center from 2001 to 2004, at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies from 1997 to 2001, and at Rice University from 1996 to 1997. Mittal's research topics included DNA sequences binding to gold nanoparticles, cell cycle regulation in Arabidopsis thaliana, and splicing independent regulation of intronless mRNA expression.

Shalu Mittal obtained a PhD degree from The Ohio State University, where they studied from 1991 to 1996. The field of study during their doctoral program is not specified.
