Varun Ghai has worked in various roles since 2004. Varun began their career as a Programme Officer for the DAAD German Academic Exchange Service, where they were responsible for designing and setting up LAN for the new office, inviting tenders for, purchasing and setting up new computers, laptops and printers, and designing and developing a new website. In 2006, they worked as a Trainee for KUKA Roboter GmbH and as a Scientific Assistant (Part-time) at Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences, where they were responsible for updating the Professor's webpage, helping update content on Microsoft PowerPoint slides, creating user manuals for open source softwares, and researching various scientific topics. Additionally, they worked as a Trainee (Part-time) at the Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems, researching on the state of the art in autonomous robot path planning and mapping for a mobile robot, suggesting methods best suited for upgrading of installed and in-use software on the KURT3D robot platform, and designing a new algorithm for autonomous robot motion planning for the existing robot platform software. In 2008, they joined dSPACE GmbH as an Applications Engineer, where they were based full-time on-site with the customer Ford Germany, and was responsible for ensuring that customers had the relevant technical support in scoping requirements for the next Hardware-in-the-Loop simulator and understood how to use existing equipment. In 2015, they joined dSPACE Ltd as a Sales Application Engineer, where they were responsible for assisting in designing and carrying out proof-of-concept projects with the aim of increasing customer satisfaction and sales of their products, doing marketing activities and customer product trainings and marketing presentations, and managing major customer accounts such as Ford UK and Jaguar Land Rover UK. In 2016, they joined QuintessenceLabs as the Product Manager and Customer Success Lead, where they were responsible for managing all commercial products over each release, coordinating with external parties such as vendors, partners, supplies, contractors and manufacturers to ensure the timely integration or delivery of components and products, and providing first level technical support to APAC customers. Varun was also a nominated member of the company Work Health and Safety Committee (WHSC).
Varun Ghai received their Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University between 2000 and 2004. Varun then went on to obtain a Master of Science in Autonomous Systems from Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences between 2005 and 2008. In 2007, they earned a Robot Programming certification from KUKA Systems GmbH. In 2014, they obtained a Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) certification from the International Software Testing Qualifications Board. In 2018, they earned a Health and Safety Representative certification from the National Safety Council of Australia.
