Shaun Fillion

Shaun Fillion has a diverse range of work experience in the field of lighting design and education. Shaun started their career at Center Theatre Group as a Lighting and Video Designer. Shaun then worked as a Freelance Designer for Theater and Film, gaining critical acclaim for their work in lighting, sets, and video designs. Fillion also served as a Staff Designer at Cline Bettridge Bernstein Lighting Design, collaborating with architects on various projects. Notable achievements during this time include the Illumination Award of Merit for the Grace Church project.

Following this, Fillion worked at SYLVANIA as a Lighting Project Design Manager, focusing on application design narration and community outreach. Shaun also served as an Adjunct Faculty/Lecturer at Stony Brook University and a Professor of Theater Design at Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Arts.

Fillion then joined Lighting Analysts Inc as an AGi32 Instructor, before working as a Professor and Program Director at the New York School of Interior Design for the MPS-L Lighting Design program.

Currently, Fillion is employed at RAB Lighting, where they initially held the role of Senior Lighting Designer, responsible for project lighting designs and energy audits. Shaun then became the Lighting Studio Manager, overseeing major projects and offering engineering assistance. Most recently, Fillion assumed the position of Director of Lighting Design, working closely with customers and salesmen to provide lighting design assistance and coordination for national accounts and strategic projects. Shaun also spearheaded the development of RAB's boot camp for lighting certifications.

Shaun Fillion has a strong educational background in the field of lighting design and integrated media. Shaun earned their MFA in Lighting Design and Integrated Media from the California Institute of the Arts, completing their studies from 2002 to 2005. Prior to that, they received a BFA in Theater from New York University, where they studied from 1998 to 2001.

In addition to their degrees, Shaun Fillion has obtained certifications to further enhance their professional skills. Shaun is a LEED Green Associate, certified by the Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI), which they achieved in May 2023. Shaun also holds the Certified Lighting Controls Professional (CLCP) designation, awarded by NALMCO in November 2022. Furthermore, they have the LC certification from NCQLP, although the specific date of obtaining the certification is unknown.
