Evan Carlin

Senior Software Developer at RadiaSoft

Evan Carlin is a senior software developer at RadiaSoft. Evan has previously worked as a technical solutions consultant at Google and as a software engineer at Slalom Build.

Carlin has extensive experience in app development, DevOps, and cloud computing. At Google, they worked on a variety of projects, including the development of a user account cancellation feature. This feature used fine-grained user segmentation to present different users with targeted rebuttal offers. The system was designed to decrease cancellation rates by 10%. Carlin and their team won the Q4 Slalom Denver "Team Mogul" award for successful project execution and securing a new contract 2x the size of the original contract.

At Slalom Build, Carlin used AWS Lambda, AWS API Gateway, AWS SAM, and Node.js to build out a document printing backend for a point of sale system. The system consumed transaction data and formatted it into a receipt printing language (ZPL). It was optimized for quick execution time and to use sensible defaults when data was missing.

In their role as DevOps engineer, Carlin leveraged AWS, Terraform, Jenkins, Chef, and HashiCorp Vault to create a continuous integration pipeline to deploy AWS services. The libraries they wrote provided clients with limited technical background and familiarity with AWS the ability to build service as their needs arise and configure them as their requirements change. This reduced the time to deploy and ensured consistency in security and metrics reporting across the company.

Evan Carlin completed a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Puget Sound. They also hold a diploma from Boulder High School. Evan is certified from Rescue 3 International as a Swiftwater Rescue Technician Unit 1.

They work with Mike Keilman - Senior Software Developer, Kevin Bruhwiler - Consultant, and Ben Gur - Software Developer. Evan Carlin reports to Rob Nagler, CTO.
