Lead Gameplay Designer at Radical Forge

Matty McGrory has a diverse range of work experience in the game development and education fields. Currently, they hold the position of Lead Gameplay Designer at Radical Forge. Matty started in February 2022 as a Senior Gameplay Designer before being promoted to their current role. In addition to their work at Radical Forge, Matty also works as a Lecturer for Indie Game Development (Online) at Falmouth University, starting in September 2022.

Prior to their current positions, Matty worked as the Animex Games Lead at Animex Festival from August 2019 to September 2022. Matty was responsible for overseeing the game-related aspects of the festival. Before that, they were a Senior Lecturer in Games Art & Design (Designer) at Teesside University from May 2016 to September 2022.

Matty also had experience as a Senior Game Designer at Tanglewood Games from December 2020 to February 2022 and as a Game Designer from January 2006 to December 2020.

In the education sector, Matty worked as a Lecturer in Games, Animation, and VFX at Sunderland College from February 2015 to May 2016, specializing in areas such as 3D Modelling, Animation, and VFX. Matty also worked as a Professional Tutor and Programme Leader in Games Development at Darlington College from September 2009 to February 2015, where they designed and led a BTEC Extended Diploma in Game Development course.

Matty'searlier experience includes working as a Part-Time Lecturer in Media/ICT at North West Regional College from September 2006 to August 2008, teaching a variety of courses, including ICT and Digital Photography. Matty also worked as the Head Lecturer in Animation at the North West Academy of the Arts in July and August 2007, delivering courses on animation, web design, and multimedia.

Matty McGrory has a comprehensive education history in the field of computer studies and game development. Between 2002 and 2006, they pursued a Bachelor of Science Honors degree in Computer Studies (Visualization) at Teesside University. Following this, from 2007 to 2008, they attended Ulster University to obtain a Post Graduate Certificate in Further and Higher Education. Most recently, from 2014 to 2018, Matty enrolled in Teesside University again, where they completed a Master of Arts degree in Games Development, specializing in Computer Games. These educational experiences have provided him with a strong foundation and extensive knowledge in their field of expertise.
