Dr. Wilfredo Romero has extensive work experience in the field of palliative care and internal medicine. Wilfredo currently serves as the Associate Palliative Care Medical Director at Ascension and also works as a Hospice and Palliative Care Physician at Rainbow Hospice and Palliative Care.
Before their current positions, Dr. Romero was the Palliative Care Medical Director at Gottlieb Memorial Hospital, where they led a multidisciplinary team in creating and implementing care plans to meet patients' physical, spiritual, and emotional needs.

Wilfredo later served as an Internal Medicine Resident at the same institution. Wilfredo Romero, MD obtained their Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia from 1999 to 2005. During this time, they focused on the field of Medicine. In 2004, they also attended the University of Illinois Chicago, specializing in Pediatric Cardiology.
In terms of certifications, Dr. Romero received their Internal Medicine Board Certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine in August 2011. Wilfredo further obtained the Hospice and Palliative Medicine Board Certification, also from the American Board of Internal Medicine, in October 2012. Additionally, Dr. Romero secured their Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from Advanced Medical Certification in March 2019.
