Mary Lovell

Energy Finance Campaigner at Rainforest Action Network

Mary is a community organizer living in Coast Salish territory. They organize in solidarity with communities facing extractive industries, in solidarity with the grassroots and frontline land defense, and in direct action. She cares deeply about community-led campaigns on oil and gas and recently has been leading coalitions on insurance campaigns to stop fossil fuel expansion. They are a printmaker, designer, and a large-scale visual artist. For years they have worked across international borders in the US and Canada and believe in abolishing borders and freedom of movement for communities impacted by state surveillance and intimidation in the borderlands. She’s worked long and hard on fighting the Trans Mountain pipeline and has done everything from climbing blockades to legal fundraising to research and insurance campaigning as a means to stop the expansion of the Alberta tar sands. You can find her reading, cooking, and getting her steps on days off- she walks every morning on the beach or in the forest and believes a close relationship with the land is necessary to do this work.
