Belinda Villanueva

Belinda Villanueva is currently the Controller at Rainforest Trust. Prior to that, they were the Controller at Conservation Legacy from September 2017 to November 2021. Before that, they were the Controller at La Plata County from February 2015 to September 2017. Belinda Villanueva started their accounting career at Mercury Payment Systems in June 2011 as a GL Accountant II. In this role, they were responsible for the day-to-day accounting activities including preparation, review and posting of journal entries, recurring and non-recurring tasks to assist in successful month-end close, account reconciliation and analysis of various balance sheet accounts, daily reconciliation of cash accounts and review and approval of company’s banking transactions for AR and AP personnel. Additionally, Belinda was responsible for maintaining fixed assets in the fixed asset module of ERP system, accurately recording assets, including acquisition, dispositions, depreciation and amortization of such assets in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Belinda also prepared schedules for external auditors in connection with review and audits, as well as draft financial statement related footnotes in compliance with applicable standards and regulation. During their time at Mercury Payment Systems, Belinda also participated in development of internal controls, policy and procedure documentation and process improvement initiatives.
