John L.

John L. has extensive work experience in the legal field. John began their career as an Attorney at Adams Nye Sinunu Bruni Becht LLP in 2005. John then moved to Carroll, Burdick & McDonough in 2007, where they specialized in products liability and toxic tort defense litigation. In 2008, John joined Ogletree Deakins as an Attorney, focusing on wage/hour class action defense and single plaintiff discrimination and harassment cases. John was also involved in employer counseling, motion practice, depositions, and appellate experience. Afterward, John worked at SEPHORA as a Corporate Counsel, where they provided legal advice and compliance guidance in labor and employment law for a large workforce. John later became a Senior Counsel, responsible for Litigation and Labor & Employment counsel. In 2012, John joined Shutterfly, Inc. as an Assistant General Counsel, and in 2019, they were promoted to Deputy General Counsel. During this time, they played a critical role in the company's legal matters. In 2021, John briefly served as University Counsel at Stanford University before assuming their current role as Chief Compliance Officer at Rakuten International in 2022.

John L. received their J.D. from the University of California, Davis - School of Law in 2005. Prior to that, they obtained a B.A. from the University of California, Davis in 2002, majoring in History and Political Science.
