Daniel (Danny) Cooper

Danny Cooper has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and companies. Daniel (Danny) is currently working as a Senior Data Scientist at Rancho BioSciences. Before that, they founded and served as the CEO of DataGrade Solutions, LLC, where they focused on data curation, access improvement, and educational consulting. Daniel (Danny) also worked as a Computational Biologist at Epistemic AI, where their role involved building and maintaining a large-scale knowledge graph platform.

Prior to that, Danny worked as a Bioinformatics Scientist at Genentech, where they assisted the DevSci Data Management team in data harmonization and workflow development. Daniel (Danny) also worked as a Bioinformatics Scientist at Genetic Networks, where they enriched analytic products for pharma clients through data curation and database construction.

Earlier in their career, Danny worked as a Post-Doctoral Associate at the University of Miami, where they specialized in big data analysis, database curation, and ontology-based annotation. Daniel (Danny) also served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, focusing on -omics integration for drug discovery and in vitro cell testing. During their time at the University of Texas at San Antonio, Danny obtained their PhD, where their research focused on the genetic integrity of pluripotent stem cells. Daniel (Danny) also worked as a Tutor and Research Assistant at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, where they were involved in technology management for a medical simulator project.

Throughout their career, Danny has demonstrated expertise in data science, bioinformatics, computational biology, and ontology management. Daniel (Danny) is skilled in various programming languages and tools such as Python, R, SQL, and GitHub. Daniel (Danny) is also experienced in working with platforms like GCP, AWS, PostGreSQL, and Hadoop.

Daniel (Danny) Cooper started their education journey by pursuing a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biomedical Sciences, General at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi from 2005 to 2009. Daniel (Danny) then went on to complete their higher education at The University of Texas at San Antonio, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology between 2009 and 2014.

In addition to their formal education, Danny Cooper also achieved a certification called "Crash Course on Python" from Google in February 2022.
