Mónica Beato Coelho has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. Mónica started their career in 2007 as a trainee at Hewlett-Packard, where they also worked as a Technology Consultant until 2009. From 2009 to 2015, Mónica was a PhD Candidate at the MIT Portugal Program. During this time, they also worked as a Research Scientist at the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology from 2011 to 2011, and as a Research Scientist at Imperial College London from 2011 to 2013. In 2014, they joined Thomson Reuters as a Senior Research Scientist, and continued to work there until 2015 as a Data Science Consultant. In 2016, Mónica joined Rancho BioSciences as a Scientific Data Curator, and later became a Senior Scientist in 2018.
Mónica Beato Coelho earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Bioengineering Systems from the MIT-Portugal | IST | Harvard-MIT | Imperial College London, completing their studies from 2009 to 2015. Prior to that, they obtained an Integrated Master's degree (MEng.) in Biomedical Engineering from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, where they studied from 2002 to 2007. During their undergraduate studies, they also participated in the Erasmus Exchange Program at the University of Galway from 2005 to 2006.
In addition to their formal education, Mónica Beato Coelho has completed several certifications. Mónica obtained certificates in R Programming and The Data Scientist's Toolbox from Coursera Course Certificates in February 2016. In April 2013, they also earned a certificate in Design: Creation of Artifacts in Society from Coursera.
