Chuma Qwalela

Chuma Qwalela has extensive work experience in various industries. Starting from 2001, Chuma worked in Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd as a Business Analyst and Process Engineer. From 2006 to 2010, Chuma was a Senior Management Consultant at MAC Consulting and Tipp Focus. Then, from 2010 to 2012, Chuma worked as a Senior Manager in Performance Design, Improvement, and Enablement at Standard Bank South Africa.

In 2012, Chuma joined the South African Reserve Bank, where they held multiple roles, including Head of the Business Analysis Competency Center. From 2016 to 2017, Chuma served as a Programme Lead - Strategy Management before becoming involved in the Prudential Authority Strategy, Transformation, and Regulatory Programme from 2017 to 2018.

In 2019, Chuma took on several positions concurrently, including Head of PTS Strategy and Change at the JSE, Non-Executive Director and Board Member at Various Companies, and Board Member and CEO of United Way South Africa.

Finally, in 2022, Chuma Qwalela started working as the Head of Strategy and Business Integration at Rand Mutual - RMA, focusing on strengthening the social insurance company's leading position and expanding their non-COID business.

Overall, Chuma Qwalela has a diverse background with experiences in strategy, consulting, finance, and leadership roles.

Chuma Qwalela completed a General Management Program at Harvard Business School in 2018. Before that, they obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from GIBS Business School (Gordon Institute of Business Science) between 2012 and 2013. In 2000, Chuma earned a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, with a focus on Business Administration and Management. Prior to that, they attended the same university from 1997 to 1999, earning a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree with a specialization in Accounting and Business/Management.

In addition to their academic achievements, Chuma has also obtained various certifications. In September 2016, they received a certification in Boeing 737 Flight Operation from Comair Limited. In November 2008, they obtained a Six Sigma Green Belt certification from the Process Management Institute. In February 2003, Chuma obtained a certification in Business Analysis from the Faculty Training Institute. Lastly, in August 2002, they received a certification in Participlan Skills Development from the Business Presentation Group.
