Dan Pupius is the founder and CEO of Range. Dan was previously the head of engineering at Medium, where they oversaw platform growth from zero to 60M monthly uniques and 600K published stories per month. At Medium, they grew the engineering team to 60+ at its peak and oversaw its transition to a continuous integration and delivery model on an AWS-based service-oriented stack.

Pupius is a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion in the workplace, and under their leadership Medium achieved a 95% NPS from its August 2016 pulse survey ("I would recommend Medium to others as a great place to work”). The company's engineering demographics at that time were 65% male, 35% female; 63% white, 31% Asian, 5% black, and 3% Latino; 11% LGBTQ; and 33% non-US.

At Google, Pupius served as a staff software engineer from October 2005 to March 2012. During their time there, they developed leadership training, mentorship, on-boarding, relatedness programs, feedback mechanisms, and career progression paths for engineers. Dan also oversaw the development of 10 reports with direct reports and managed 5 first-time managers.

Dan Pupius received their MA in Industrial Design from Sheffield Hallam University and their Bsc in Artificial Intelligence from The University of Manchester.
