Baber Syed

Director, Research and Development (Robotic Pill) at Rani Therapeutics

Baber Syed has over 25 years of work experience in the medical device industry. Baber most recently worked at Rani Therapeutics, starting in 2012, where they held the positions of Director of Research and Development for the Robotic Pill and Engineering Manager of R&D, where they were responsible for leading and managing a team for the Robotic Pill project. Prior to that, they worked at Intrapace for 9 years as a Principal Engineer. Baber began their career at Intella interventional systems in 1996 as an Engineer, where they contributed to the development and manufacturing process of guide wires for balloon angioplasty devices. In 1994, they worked as an Engineer at Advanced Cytometrix, where they played a role in designing and building prototypes for oncology needles and aspiration devices.

Baber Syed has a strong educational background in engineering and biomedical sciences. Baber completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering and Material Science at the University of California, Davis from 1991 to 1994. Following this, they pursued further education at the University of Southern California, where they obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Mechanical Engineering from 1999 to 2000. Subsequently, they continued their studies at the same university, specializing in Biomedical Engineering, and obtained another Master of Science (MS) degree from 2000 to 2002.
