Muhammad Abbas has a diverse work experience spanning over 16 years. Muhammad currently holds the position of Senior Software Engineering Manager at Ranpak, where they manage and develops the software engineering department, leads software design and architecture, and drives software development projects. Prior to this, they worked at the City of Edmonton as a SCADA Specialist, focusing on industrial control systems and data communication systems.

From 2019 to 2020, Muhammad worked as a PLC/Controls Specialist at Champion Pet Foods, where they managed automation projects, performed project management activities, and identified process improvements. Before that, they served as an Electronic Field Specialist at STEP Energy Services, maintaining and modifying process control and instrumentation systems, diagnosing and repairing electrical devices, and providing technical support.

Muhammad also has experience as an Operational Technology Field Specialist at Ledcor, where they deployed operational technology systems, installed data and computer networking infrastructure, and performed fiber optics installations. Prior to that, they worked at Mobile Data Technologies as a Design Specialist, responsible for prototyping supervisory control and data acquisition systems, designing PCB layouts, and generating drawings.

Muhammad's early career includes roles as a Telecommunication Engineer at Huawei, where they were involved in hardware installation, testing, and maintenance, and as a Telecom Engineer Intern at Nortel Networks, where they assembled, installed, and repaired telecommunications equipment.

In 2004, they enrolled at the National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences and pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. Muhammad'sundergraduate studies were completed in 2008.

In 2011, Muhammad attended the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) and participated in the Engineers' and Technologists' Integration Program (ETIP). This program focused on Electronics Engineering Technology and spanned the duration of one year.

Additionally, Muhammad has acquired various additional certifications and training throughout their career. In 2019, they completed the Handling Tool Operation and Programming training provided by FANUC America Corporation. Muhammad also obtained the Inductive Automation Core Certification from Inductive Automation in 2021.

More recently, Muhammad has focused on developing their skills in project management and quality improvement. With the Project Management Institute, they obtained the Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification in November 2022. Muhammad also obtained the Disciplined Agile Scrum Master (DASM) certification from the same institute in May 2023. Furthermore, they acquired the Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (ICBB) certification from The Council for Six Sigma Certification (CSSC) in May 2023.

Muhammad has also obtained certifications in areas such as continuous improvement, cybersecurity, and automation. Notable certifications include the Continuous Improvement Manager/Management Professional certification from the Six Sigma Global Institute in May 2023, the Certified Industrial Cybersecurity Professional certification from Canvas Credentials (Badgr) in March 2023, and various automation-related certifications from Udemy.
