Damian Horner has held various leadership positions throughout their career. In 1994, they started as a Software Engineer at BT, where they built and installed SNMP agents for network management systems and visited customers across Europe. From 1997 to 2000, they worked as the R&D Technical Lead at BT/Concert, leading a team that created fault management solutions for multiple network technologies. During this time, they also designed and created a web portal solution that saved the company $500K in 3rd party licensing costs.

In 2000, Damian joined Trinagy as a Network Performance Management - Content Architect, where they developed performance reporting solutions and deployed them into customer operations environments. At HP, they served as a Product Architect/SAFe Product Owner for Network Management - Fault and Performance, focusing on reporting solutions for network and system data.

Starting in 2015, Damian worked at SaltDNA as an R&D Manager, overseeing research and development activities. In 2014, they joined Gauge NI as a Non-Executive Director, serving on the company's board.

From 2019 to 2023, Damian held leadership roles at Contrast Security, including Senior Director of Engineering+ Site Lead, and later VP of Engineering+ Site Lead. Damian was responsible for forming and managing a team of 65 employees, encompassing various job types, including HR, Security Research, Product Management, UX design, Technical Support, and Digital Marketing. In this role, they played a significant role in establishing Contrast Security's reputation as a fun and innovative place to work.

Most recently, Damian joined Rapid7 in 2023 as the VP of Engineering.

Damian Horner's education history begins in 1983 when they attended Rathmore Grammar School in Belfast. Damian remained there until 1990, but did not pursue a specific degree or field of study during that time. After completing their studies at Rathmore Grammar, Damian went on to attend Queen's University Belfast from 1990 to 1994. Damian obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Computer Science during their time at Queen's University.
