Edwin Yaqub

Lead Data Scientist at RapidMiner

Edwin Yaqub has over 15 years of experience in the IT industry. From 2003 to 2004, they worked as a Software Engineer for Adamsoft International. Edwin then worked as a Software Engineer for Innovative Private Ltd. from 2004 to 2007. During this time, they designed and developed a project on currency exchange and debit card based commission chains (MCP product of i2c inc.). From 2007 to 2008, they worked as a Software Developer for Philips Research Aachen, where they conducted R&D from conception to prototype of a meta-model framework that interpreted raw patient data according to expert medical knowledge represented in OWL and RDF-rules. Edwin then worked as an IT Consultant for CGI Düsseldorf from 2008 to 2009. From 2009 to 2011, they worked as an IT Researcher for TU Dortmund. From 2011 to 2016, they worked as a Scientific Researcher for GWDG - Gesellschaft für wissenschaftliche Datenverarbeitung mbH Göttingen, where they conducted intensive R&D work on automating Service Level Agreements (SLA) management for future Cloud offerings by exploiting agent-negotiation paradigm and dynamic adaptation by optimizing resource allocation. Edwin has been with RapidMiner since 2016, where they have held the roles of Data Scientist, Senior Data Scientist, and Lead Data Scientist. During their time as a Senior Data Scientist, they have been developing and applying AI, ML (predictive, prescriptive analytics) and constraint solving to planning and optimization problems in telecomm (5G and B5G domains) as part of EU (5G-PPP) project Ariadne (start: Nov. 2019) and development related to data streaming in EU (BDV-PPP) project Infore (start: Jan. 2019).

Edwin Yaqub obtained their Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science (Dr. rer. nat.) from The University of Göttingen in 2015. Prior to that, they obtained an MSc in Computer Science from RWTH Aachen University in 2008. In 2013, they also obtained a Certified Software Tester Foundations Level (CFTL) from the International Software Testing Qualifications Board.
