Mohsen Sabouri, PhD

Director, Computational Biology at RAPT Therapeutics

Mohsen Sabouri, PhD has extensive work experience in the field of computational biology and bioinformatics. Mohsen is currently serving as the Director of Computational Biology at RAPT Therapeutics since August 2021. Prior to this, they founded and worked as the Principal of Computational Biodiscovery Inc. starting from August 2013.

In terms of senior leadership roles, Mohsen was the Associate Director of Bioinformatics at Mission Bio from December 2020 to July 2021. Mohsen also served as the Senior Manager of Computational Biology at Fate Therapeutics Inc. from December 2016 to January 2020.

During their tenure at Fate Therapeutics, Mohsen led the computational biology team and was responsible for designing and delivering the company's first fully automated, web-based, multi-omics analysis platform. Mohsen also developed high-throughput next-generation sequencing (NGS) pipelines for gene screening and clonal dynamics analysis.

Before joining Fate Therapeutics, Mohsen worked as a Bioinformatics Scientist at Dart NeuroScience LLC, where they performed differential network analysis and data integration for identifying target genes involved in long-term memory.

Earlier in their career, Mohsen served as a Bioinformatics Engineer/Analyst II at Scripps Physical Sciences-Oncology Center, where they developed an integrated database for high-throughput data storage and analysis. Mohsen also worked as a Senior Research Associate in Translational Informatics at Scripps Research Translational Institute, where they developed a high-throughput small non-coding RNA analysis pipeline and made significant discoveries in immune tolerance and lymphocyte development.

Mohsen's research experience dates back to their time as a Research Associate in Computational Cell Biology at Scripps Research, where they performed data-driven mechanistic modeling and software development for cell migration regulation.

Mohsen started their postdoctoral research at Virginia Tech, specializing in systems biology and mathematical biology modeling. There, they developed mathematical models for protein interaction networks and parameter estimation algorithms for cell cycle modeling.

Lastly, Mohsen served as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Computational Materials Science at UC Santa Barbara, focusing on the computational modeling of polyelectrolytes and charged block-copolymers.

Overall, Mohsen Sabouri, PhD has demonstrated expertise in computational biology, bioinformatics, and mathematical modeling throughout their career.

Mohsen Sabouri, PhD, holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Theoretical & Computational Condensed Matter Physics from McGill University. Mohsen also earned a Master of Science (MS) degree in Condensed Matter and Materials Physics from the same institution. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) in Physics at Sharif University of Technology. In June 2018, they obtained a certification in Leadership Development Program from The Leadership Edge.
