Katharine Childs

Katharine Childs has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Katharine began their career as a Network Manager, Training Officer, and Project Management Consultant at Idis from November 1994 to December 2004. Following this, they worked as the Director of the Blackwell Residents Action Group from September 2007 to May 2013. From September 2009 to July 2015, they served as an ICT Technician and Computing Teacher at Derbyshire Primary Schools. Katharine'sinvolvement with Code Club began in October 2014 as the East Midlands Regional Co-Ordinator, and later as the Code Club Regional Manager for the Northern part of the United Kingdom (including Scotland and Northern Ireland) from July 2015 to May 2018. Katharine transitioned to the role of Programme Coordinator, Research at the Raspberry Pi Foundation in May 2019, where they led the coordination of the Gender Balance in Computing research program. Katharine has also held the position of Programme Coordinator, Code Club at the Raspberry Pi Foundation from May 2018 to May 2019. As part of their work at the foundation, Katharine has been actively involved in recruiting schools for randomized controlled trials and developing systems for participant engagement.

Katharine Childs obtained a Master's Degree in Computing in Education from Nottingham Trent University, where they studied from 2015 to 2019. Prior to that, they earned a BSc (Hons) in IT & Computing from The Open University between 1997 and 2001. In their earlier education, Katharine attended Tupton Hall Secondary School from 1985 to 1992, although no specific degree or field of study is provided for this period.

In addition to their formal education, Katharine has obtained several certifications.
