Michela Cutts has extensive work experience in the sugar industry. Michela is currently the Managing Director of Sugar at RCL FOODS, a position they have held since October 2022. Prior to this, they served as the Commercial Director at RCL FOODS from November 2019 to October 2022.
Before joining RCL FOODS, Michela was the General Manager of Lactulose at Relax Limited - Excellence in Lactulose from August 2018 to November 2019.
Michela also held various roles at Illovo Sugar South Africa, including Commercial Director of Sugar and Syrup from October 2014 to August 2018, and Commercial General Manager of Sugar & Syrup from October 2012 to September 2014. During their time at Illovo Sugar South Africa, they were responsible for managing the commercial strategy for sugar and syrup production, as well as advocacy and sourcing activities.
Prior to their roles at Illovo Sugar South Africa, Michela worked at the South African Sugar Association, where they served as the Marketing Director from July 2008 to September 2012. Michela was responsible for managing the industry's export sugar and optimizing returns through effective relationships with international and domestic partners. Michela also served as the National Market Manager from April 2007 to July 2008.
Michela started their career as a Lecturer at the University of Pretoria, where they worked from January 2003 to March 2007.
Michela Cutts obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Pretoria/Universiteit van Pretoria, which they attended from 1996 to 1999. Michela then pursued further education and completed a Master of Science (Msc) degree in Econometric Analysis at the same institution, from 2000 to 2002.
