James Johnson

VP, Technology at Reach Orthopaedics Inc.

Dr. Johnson is a professor of both Mechanical Engineering and Surgery at Western University. He holds the Graham King Chair in Musculoskeletal Research and is the co-director of the Bioengineering Research Laboratory at the Hand and Upper Limb Centre, St. Joseph’s Health Centre. Dr Johnson’s research encompasses the application of engineering-based studies to address clinical problems, with a focus on the design and development of shoulder and elbow implants. His laboratory also focuses on the development of intra-operative measurement systems as a component of computer-assisted surgery, with a special interest in the optimization of minimally invasive surgical procedures.

Dr. Johnson and his colleagues have won numerous awards for their contributions to research. Additionally, he has published over 200 journal papers, numerous book chapters and conference presentations. He is an assistant editor of the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, and a past president of the Canadian Orthopaedic Research Society.
