Steve Askar

Steve Askar has a diverse work experience in the education sector. Steve co-designed personalized reading instruction software as the Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer at Readlee. Steve was also a RIDES Fellow at Harvard University, where they consulted with organizations on racial equity and facilitated sessions on storytelling and council in schools. Steve worked as a Graduate Level Learning Specialist at The Boston Foundation, analyzing data and creating policy briefs. Steve served as a Race Equity and Leadership Coach at Citizen Schools, focusing on strengthening student and staff culture. Steve was the Dean of Student Culture at Thrive Public Schools, leading staff in developing project-based learning and social-emotional learning for elementary school students. Steve was a Leadership Fellow at RISE San Diego and a Corps Member Advisor at Teach For America. Steve was recognized as an outstanding preschool teacher during their time as a TFA Corps Member at Neighborhood House Association. Steve also gained valuable experience as a Project Manager at BYU-Idaho Student Employment, where they managed tutors, taught courses, and oversaw the production of educational content.

Steve Askar completed their education in a chronological manner. Steve first attended Brigham Young University - Idaho from 2011 to 2015, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. Following this, from 2015 to 2017, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education at Johns Hopkins University School of Education. Lastly, from 2019 to 2020, Steve attended the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where they obtained a Master of Education degree in School Leadership.
