David Haley

VP, Engineering at Rec Room

David Haley is currently the VP of Engineering at Rec Room. Prior to that, they were a Senior Software Engineer Team Lead at Microsoft from September 2010 to July 2017. There, they led a group of three engineers in designing, building, and shipping an 'automatic videos' feature for the Windows Photos app under a tight timeline. The feature constructs a video from your photo and video clips, sets it to music, and applies transitions and effects to generate a shareable video memory.

Before their time at Microsoft, David Haley interned at id Software from June 2007 to August 2007, where they worked on an as-yet unreleased title. David then went on to be a SDE Intern at Microsoft Game Studios from June 2009 to August 2009, before returning to id Software to work as a Web Developer from June 2006 to August 2006.

David Haley's experience in the film industry began at Pixar Animation Studios, where they were a Pixar University Program Intern from June 2008 to August 2008. There, they received basic training in a number of areas in the Pixar film pipeline, including modeling (Maya), shading and lighting.

David Haley's teaching experience began at Harvard University, where they were a Teaching Fellow (TA) for CS50 from September 2007 to January 2008. There, they taught a weekly section for the intro computer science class covering basic programming in C. David also held weekly office hours and graded tests and homework.

David Haley has a BA in Computer Science from Harvard University.
