Brenda Buchanan

Brenda Buchanan has over 28 years of work experience in various roles and organizations. Brenda is currently serving as the Chief Operations Officer at the Real Estate Council of Ontario since March 2019. Prior to this, they held positions at the Technical Standards and Safety Authority, where they were the Vice President of Human Resources & Training from March 2013 to May 2018, and the Vice President of Administration & Customer Services from July 2005 to February 2013. Before that, Brenda worked at Canada Lands Company/Société Immobilière du Canada, where they held the titles of Vice President of Administration and Chief Governance Officer from July 2004 to July 2005, and Director of Human Resources from February 2003 to July 2004. Brenda also has experience as the Manager of Human Resources at VESTAR Limited from September 1997 to February 2003, and as a Child & Youth Worker/Family Worker at Kinark Child and Family Services from March 1991 to August 1997, with a brief period as a Family Worker in 1993-1994. Overall, Brenda has demonstrated expertise in leadership, strategic direction, human resources, and administration across various sectors.

Brenda Buchanan completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at the University of Guelph from 1987 to 1991. Brenda later obtained a Certification in Human Resources Leadership (CHRL) from the Human Resources Professionals Association. In addition, they have obtained certifications in the Change Management process according to the Prosci methodologies and tools from AdPro Change Systems Inc.
