Associate Director Of Affiliate Support at Reconstructing Judaism

Maurice Harris has a diverse and extensive work experience in various roles within the field of Judaism. Maurice began their career as a Factory Worker at Kibbutz En Dor in 1993, followed by a role as an Administrator at Or Shalom Jewish Community. In 1994, they worked as a Steinhardt Fellow at Hillel Jewish Campus Service Corps. Maurice then served as a Student Rabbi at Temple Beth Israel (Reform) from 2000 to 2002. In 2002, they became a Carpenter Intern at Jewish Family & Children's Service, where they also served as a Jewish chaplain to elderly Jews. From 2003 to 2011, Maurice worked as a Rabbi and Head of School at Temple Beth Israel. Maurice then transitioned into writing and publishing two Jewish studies non-fiction books in 2011. Maurice joined InterfaithFamily as a Senior Rabbi/Educator in 2014, during which they worked on developing educational resources. In 2016, they joined Reconstructing Judaism as the Associate Director for Thriving Communities and Israel Affairs Specialist, while also holding the position of Associate Director of Affiliate Support. Additionally, Maurice worked as an Adjunct Instructor in Judaic Studies at the University of Oregon since 2007, where they were responsible for various teaching and administrative tasks.

Maurice Harris pursued their education at Wesleyan University from 1990 to 1992, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. Maurice then attended the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College from 1998 to 2003, earning a Master's degree in Hebrew Letters and rabbinic ordination.
