Mario Maldonado Lutomirsky began their education by completing preclinical studies at Universidad Francisco Marroquín from 1986 to 1988, earning a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree. Mario then pursued further education in the field of Medicine at the same university from 1989 to 1993, obtaining their Medical Doctor (MD) degree. Afterward, they attended the University of Illinois Chicago, where they studied Internal Medicine from 1994 to 1997 and became an Internist. Continuing their medical specialization, Mario Maldonado Lutomirsky then attended Baylor College of Medicine from 1997 to 2000, where they completed a fellowship in Endocrinology Diabetes and Metabolism.
