Laila C.

Laila C. is an experienced educator and fitness instructor currently serving as an 8th Grade Science Teacher at Taylor ISD since July 2023. With a diverse background, Laila has worked as an F45 Group Fitness Instructor at UT RecSports since January 2020, where responsibilities include leading exercise classes and correcting participant movements. From January 2021 to July 2023, Laila contributed as a Peer Mentor at the UTeach Institute, assisting students with lesson planning and academic support. Previous experience includes substituting for grades K-8 at Hyde Park Baptist Schools, serving as a Teaching Assistant for courses in Human Anatomy & Physiology and Neuroscience at the Center for Talent Development, and an internship at the Lake Cumberland District Health Department. Laila began in the workforce at Cumberland Gastroenterology PSC as a Clerk. Laila holds a degree in Microbiology & Infectious Disease from The University of Texas at Austin, along with certificates in UTeach Secondary Education and Museum Studies.
