Olivier Barbeau

Olivier Barbeau is an accomplished Director of Drug Design, currently at Recursion since November 2024 and previously at Exscientia from November 2019 to December 2024, where Olivier held several roles including Associate Director and Senior Drug Designer, focusing on leveraging AI for small molecule drug discovery. Prior to Exscientia, Olivier served as Medicinal Chemistry Team Leader at Evotec, and led a chemistry team at The University of Edinburgh, overseeing project management and collaboration in drug discovery. Additional experience includes senior scientific roles at Sesmos Ltd. and the Institute of Cancer Research, as well as a postdoctoral fellowship at CNRS - Université de Cergy-Pontoise in France. Olivier began academic training with a PhD in medicinal chemistry from Newcastle University, following a Master's degree in Organic Chemistry from Versailles University.
