Philip O'Brien

Project Manager at Recycleye

Philip O'Brien has over 20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Philip began their career in 2001 as a Project Engineer at Rosti Technical Plastics, where they managed international R&D and tooling development projects. In 2007, they joined Maersk Oil as a MITAS/Well Site Engineer, where they were responsible for casing and cementing design calculations, verification and casing ordering. In 2008, they were promoted to Reservoir Engineer WRFM Team, where they developed and deployed best practices for reservoir surveillance and operating well management. Philip also managed the implementation of Oil Field Manager (OFM) to the Petroleum Engineering department. In 2012, they were seconded to the Halliburton Bayan Alliance at Dialog Energy as a Reservoir Engineer, where they revitalised the Bayan field, offshore Sarawak, doubling production of a 35-year-old brownfield site under challenging budget constraints. Currently, they are working as a Project Manager at RECYCLEYE.

Philip O'Brien has a diverse educational background. Philip obtained a NVQ in Mechanical Manufacture from West Herts College between 1995 and 1997. Philip then attended Brunel University London where they earned a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Materials Science between 1997 and 2001. After that, they obtained a PRINCE2® Foundation and Practitioner Certification Training from AXELOS Global Best Practice in April 2019. Most recently, they have been pursuing a Master's degree in Petroleum Engineering at Heriot-Watt University since 2019.
