Dorothy Heinrich is a Climate Risk Advisor with the Climate Science Team at the Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre, having held this position since May 2019. Dorothy's career includes roles as a Consultant and Junior Researcher within the same team. Prior experience includes serving as a Specialist in climate change adaptation at Ouranos from April 2020 to January 2021, and as a Research Assistant in the Place, Health, and Well-Being Research Group at McGill University's Department of Geography between May 2016 and September 2018. Currently pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy in Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology at the University of Reading, Dorothy also holds a Master of Science in Environmental Change and Management from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor of Arts in Honours Geography from McGill University. Additional academic experience includes a semester abroad at Victoria University of Wellington and foundational studies at Marianopolis College and Collège international Marie de France.

The Climate Centre’s mission is to help the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and its partners reduce the impacts of climate change and extreme-weather events on vulnerable people. A core objective is to make the best global scientific insights operable at the local level. Key elements include support for awareness-raising and capacity-building, especially in developing countries whose people are the most vulnerable to climate change.
