Ravinder Atwal

Ravinder read law at the University of Leeds and has been practising in York ever since she completed her pupillage in 1996. Ravinder is a specialist family practitioner at Dere Street Barristers and the Deputy Head of the Family Team. Ravinder's work centres around child protection and she is keenly aware of the pivotal role played by schools and teachers in unlocking issues that may prevail at home. It is the school that provides the safety net and makes the referral to the local authority in so many of the cases that are seen in the Courts. She is passionate about the best opportunities being afforded to all pupils, regardless of their social background or heritage.
