Pallav R. Acharya

Principal, Tax at REDW

Pallav brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in international tax and business matters as the former owner of CPA Global Tax & Accounting, which merged into REDW in early 2021. For more than 15 years, he has been advising clients on cross-border tax matters, helping them to efficiently plan for and comply with ever-changing regulations. His clients have included businesses and individuals engaged in US inbound or outbound activities involving Canada, Mexico, Asia and Europe, as well as non-resident and expatriate individuals.

Among the services Pallav provides are planning, structuring and consulting on compliance and transfer pricing issues. He has also worked extensively in the area of IRS overseas voluntary disclosure initiatives and helped clients comply with international tax requirements. His designation by the IRS as a “Certified Acceptance Agent” enables him to assist clients with quickly obtaining Income Tax Identification Numbers (ITIN).

Prior to working for large CPA firms in the US, including a Big 4 firm, Pallav gained Canadian tax and accounting expertise working for a public accounting firm in Canada. Before that, he managed his own public accounting firm in India for 12 years, where he specialized in advising clients in the fields of international business/finance, accounting, audit and tax issues.

A CPA licensed to practice in Arizona, Mr. Acharya is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Arizona Society of CPAs (ASCPA), and has been awarded the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation by the AICPA. He is also a Fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (FCA) of India.

From 2002 to 2004, Mr. Acharya served as the Chair of the International Issues Committee Task Force of the Arizona Society of CPAs (ASCPA) and is currently a member of its Tax Steering Committee. He also serves as a member of the Board of Directors of the Arizona Council for International Visitors, as well as the Working Board of the Metro Phoenix Export Alliance (MPEXA).

As a Faculty Associate at Arizona State University's W. P. Carey School of Business, Pallav has taught “Taxation for Decision-Makers" to undergraduate accounting students, and, as a guest lecturer, has also presented international tax topics to the School's graduate tax students. Pallav regularly writes articles on international tax topics and is a frequent speaker on cross-border tax issues, most notably on “How to Do Business in Mexico," presented to the Maricopa County Bar Association, and on unprecedented changes brought about by the “Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act," part of the 2010 HIRE Act.
