Alma Chao

Alma Chao is an experienced legal professional specializing in intellectual property law, currently serving as General Counsel at Redwood Materials since May 2022, after holding the position of Deputy General Counsel. Prior to that, Alma was the VP and Head of Intellectual Property at Marqeta, Inc. from April 2021 to May 2022, and spent over a decade at Facebook in various legal roles including Director and Associate General Counsel. Earlier experience includes working as an Intellectual Property Attorney at Greenberg Traurig and an extern focusing on open source software licensing at Novell. Alma Chao earned a J.D. from BYU Law School and a B.A. in Applied Mathematics with a Computer Science emphasis from the University of California, Berkeley.
