Francisco Alvarez

VP, Clinical Operations at Regard

Francisco Alvarez is the current Vice President of Clinical Operations at Regard. Prior to this, they worked as an Internship in Health Systems and Services at the World Health Organization from May 2013 to September 2013. There, they conducted research on interventions for strengthening primary care and Bolivian national health system reform. Francisco also published a review of primary care research in Bolivia and was a member of health and agricultural needs assessment team during drought in the Chaco region of Bolivia. Francisco then consulted with the Bolivian Ministerio de Salud y Deportes (MSD) and assisted with coordinating international aid efforts in Bolivia. Afterwards, they worked as a Resident Physician at Johns Hopkins Medicine from January 2016 to December 2019. There, they completed their residency in Internal Medicine with the Urban Health track, which included additional training in addiction medicine, HIV, hepatitis C, healthcare for people experiencing homelessness, correctional medicine, and public health. Francisco also assisted Maryland Department of Health with implementation of Care Transformation Organizations (CTOs) as a novel tool for advanced primary care and healthcare delivery transformation within the Maryland Primary Care Program (MDPCP), a new component of the Maryland Total Cost of Care Model (manuscript forthcoming). Furthermore, they were a Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Fellow at the Center for Clinical Standards and Quality (CCSQ) working with the Transforming Clinical Practice Initiative (TCPi). Francisco Alvarez completed a Doctor of Medicine (MD) at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. Francisco also holds an AB in Francisco'story and Literature from Harvard University.
