Steven Harms

Steven Harms has over 15 years of work experience in the technology industry. From 2006 to 2021, they have worked for various companies, including Reify Health, Technology Transformation Services (TTS), Vertafore, 18F, Great American Insurance Group, GE, IMC Financial Markets - Chicago, Luxottica Retail, and RICIS.

At Reify Health, Harms worked as the Senior Manager - Site Reliability Engineering from 2021. At TTS, they were the Senior Cyber Security Leader from 2019, delivering government class authentication as part of the login.gov security team and automating and scaling security hardening, scanning, remediation and analysis at global scale. At Vertafore, Harms was the Senior Manager, DevOps from 2019, leading a team of twelve engineers across Cloud / Windows / Linux / Web engineering and driving initiatives including cloud transformation, platform reliability, legacy consolidation, and reduced OpEx while delivering superior customer experience (CX).

At 18F, Harms was the Senior Engineering Team Leader from 2017, transforming government IT as a digital startup within government and coaching, mentoring, and improving organization performance through modern agile and cloud practices. At Great American Insurance Group, they were the Senior Enterprise Architect - Cloud Transformation from 2017, reporting directly to SVP and founding member of Great American Software Labs, transforming legacy systems to secure, highly available cloud-native applications.

At 18F, Harms was the Acting Director of Cloud.gov from 2015, optimizing $25MM P&L including program staffing, executive briefings, OpEx / CapEx, increased revenue and achieved FedRAMP moderate status. At GE, they were the Senior IT Engineering Leader from 2011, leading 54 person global organization delivering Windows, Linux, Unix and Clustering solutions for Global Operations IT. At IMC Financial Markets - Chicago, Harms was the Integration Engineer - High Frequency Trading from 2011, managing, monitoring and deploying systems which process hundreds of millions of data points during the day, while executing thousands of trading transactions per minute.

At Luxottica Retail, Harms was the Senior Network Integrator from 2007, leading projects to provide solutions that reduced cost, while increasing reliability and capabilities. At RICIS, they were the Internet Specialist from 2006, responsible for implementing technical solutions for Luxottica and several Global 100 clients.

Steven Harms obtained their B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Michigan-Dearborn between 2002 and 2006. Additionally, they obtained their A+ Certification from CompTIA in 1998, as well as their Certified Network Administrator from Novell in the same year.
