Ana Camacho

CEO & Founder at Rekom Biotech

Ana Camacho is currently the CEO and Founder of Rekom Biotech. Ana has over 20 years of experience in the field of molecular biology.

Camacho began their career as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Centro Nacional de Biotecnología, CSIC. During their time there, they worked on projects investigating the DNA packaging machinery of bacteriophages and the z2e2 protein complex of Streptococcus pyogenes. Ana also spent time at the Max-Delbrück-Centrum für Molekulare Medizin in Berlin and the Max-Planck-Institut für molekulare Genetik.

In 2002, Camacho left their position at the CSIC to become the Molecular Biology Manager at Vircell, SL. At Vircell, they were responsible for the design and production of recombinant antigens for use in diagnostic assays. Ana also oversaw the purification of monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies, and directed two Doctoral PhDs.

In 2010, Camacho left Vircell to start their own company, Rekom Biotech. Rekom Biotech is a company that specializes in the development of diagnostic kits for infectious diseases. Under Camacho's leadership, Rekom Biotech has become a leading player in the field of molecular diagnostics.

Ana Camacho has a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the University of York in Toronto, Canada. Ana also did pre-doctoral support activities in Genetic Complementation of the Gene DUT in Saccharomyces cerevisiae at IPB López-Neyra. Ana is currently a Farmacia at Universidad de Granada, where they are researching Biochemistry, Biotechnology, and protein purification.
