Ben Gohlke

Director of Software Engineering at Rekor

Ben Gohlke has a diverse work experience in various roles and positions. Ben began their career as a Technical Support Specialist at Transaction Data Systems, Inc. in 2002, where they provided technical support for independent pharmacies. Ben also worked as a Software Engineer - Intern at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems in 2008, where they led a UI and back-end rewrite of a Java-based reporting tool.

In 2009, Ben joined Transaction Data Systems, Inc. again as a Software Engineer, where they learned and used C# to develop Windows Mobile applications and created a Windows backup solution for a PostgreSQL database. Ben also maintained many BASH shell scripts.

Moving forward, Ben became a Lead iOS Developer at Transaction Data Systems, Inc. in 2010. Ben built an iOS app that allowed pharmacy patients to refill their prescriptions by scanning the bottle. Ben also designed and built an iPad app for pharmacies to process prescription deliveries.

In 2013, Ben worked as an iOS Developer/Contractor at Presidio, where they planned and designed an iPad-based CRM for account managers. Ben also developed an iPhone-based receipt image tracking application for attaching to expense reports.

Ben then joined SecureNet Technologies in 2013 as a Senior iOS Developer, where they adapted an existing web-based application for use as a native mobile app for iOS and Android platforms, specifically for security system technicians to configure alarm systems in the field.

In 2014, Ben worked as a Senior iOS Developer at BlueToad Inc., where they owned and managed the main iOS publication reader application.

From 2015 to 2017, Ben worked at The Iron Yard in various roles. Ben served as a Mentor Instructor, providing mentorship and guidance to iOS instructors, and taught Mobile Engineering cohorts. Ben also acted as the Lead Instructor and Curriculum Lead, training newer instructors and setting agendas for group meetings.

Ben then joined StackPath in 2017 as a Senior Application Developer, where they built VPN clients for iOS and contributed to the development of StackPath's StrongVPN product.

In 2019, Ben joined Lambda School and served as a Program Manager - iOS, responsible for managing instructors and providing cross-functional leadership. Ben also worked as an iOS Instructor, teaching cohorts of students and contributing to curriculum refinement.

Most recently, Ben joined Rekor in 2020. Ben served as the Director of Mobile Engineering, where they provided architectural design and engineering direction for mobile applications. Ben also built and managed a team of iOS and Android engineers. Later, they became the Director of Software Engineering, managing engineering managers and delivering software releases for the organization.

Throughout their career, Ben has demonstrated expertise in various programming languages and has consistently taken on leadership roles in software development and engineering.

Ben Gohlke attended the University of Central Florida from 2002 to 2008, where they pursued a degree in Computer Science. During their time at the university, their primary field of study was also Computer Science.
