RakshVir Jasra has extensive work experience in various roles and companies. RakshVir started their career in 1981 as a Lecturer at Hindu College, University of Delhi. RakshVir then joined Indian Petrochemicals Corporation Ltd in 1982 as a Research and Development Manager. In 1997, they joined Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) as a Director Grade Scientist at the Central Salt and Marine Chemicals Institute. After 11 years, they moved to Reliance Industries Limited in 2008 as a Senior Vice President. In 2018, they became an Honorary Professor at the Institute of Advanced Research, Gandhinagar. Recently, in 2020, they joined the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati as an Honorary Faculty in the Centre for Nanotechnology.

RakshVir Jasra has an extensive education history in the field of Chemistry. From 1969 to 1971, they attended DAV College in Jalandhar, Punjab, where they studied Pre-Engineering. RakshVir then pursued their Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi, from 1971 to 1976. Following this, RakshVir Jasra obtained a Master's degree in Chemistry from the same institution between 1974 and 1976. RakshVir furthered their education at the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi, from 1976 to 1981, earning a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Chemistry. Finally, RakshVir Jasra was a Post Doc fellow at Imperial College London from 1989 to 1990.
