Since 2010, Julian Rawles has experience in deep water salvage, oil and gas wellhead intervention, and subsea cable laying operations. He was involved in the creation of the UK’s largest maritime security provider and has successfully directed three companies through Oil Major vetting.
Julian is a qualified Air Traffic Control (ATC) Instructor / Examiner, having trained military ATC students at Royal Navy Air Stations and at sea. He integrated new safety regulations with the introduction of the MERLIN Helicopter while ensuring the continuance of the Search and Rescue (SAR) capability across the South West of England. Julian has experience managing multiple SAR emergencies recovering seafarers using multi-agency cooperation and collaboration. He also has 5 years of experience alongside UK Special Forces, operating in the Maritime Counter Terrorism Role.
During this period he boarded vessels at sea as well as Offshore Energy Installations via helicopter using rope access techniques including fast roping and abseiling. From 2002–2007 he was the helicopter abseil and fast rope Primary Authority to the Royal Marines 3 Commando Brigade.
Julian is considered an industry expert in commercial activities within complex environments.
