Senior Electrical Power Systems Analyst at Renewable Energy Systems

Paul McQueen has a diverse work experience in the field of electrical engineering, with a focus on power systems. Paul has worked for various companies, starting in 2008 at Chevron where they gained practical experience in the electrical department. Paul also worked as a service technician at Meissner Power Systems, installing and servicing large uninterrupted power supplies.

In 2011, Paul joined Aurecon as a vacation work engineering student, where they assisted with electrical design projects and developed a cost estimation tool for water treatment plants. Paul later became an electrical engineer at Aurecon, specializing in grid code compliance and network analysis for renewable energy projects. Paul'sresponsibilities included grid compliance and model validation, distribution design, power factor correction, and more.

Paul also has experience as a volunteer electrical engineer at the South African National Space Agency, where they assisted with repairs and maintenance of radar antennas in Antarctica.

Most recently, Paul worked as an electrical engineer at Zutari, focusing on grid integration, grid code compliance, and model validation reporting for renewable energy projects. Paul'sresponsibilities included grid compliance simulations, medium voltage balance of plant design, and assisting with construction management.

Throughout their career, Paul has worked with clients such as BHP Billiton, Vestas Wind Systems, Eskom, and Siemens.

Paul McQueen completed their education in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Engineering. Paul initially attended Cape Peninsula University of Technology from 2006 to 2008, where they obtained a National Diploma. Paul later enrolled at the same university in 2009 for a Baccalaureus Technologiae degree but only studied for one year. In 2011, Paul joined the University of Cape Town and completed a Bachelor's degree in Science in Electrical Engineering in 2012. Additionally, in December 2019, they obtained a certification as a Professional Electrical Engineer from CESA - Consulting Engineers South Africa.
